Somalia Elections 2020-2021

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and the leaders of the country’s regional administrations will on Thursday begin talks in the capital, Mogadishu.

The consultative meeting will discuss the election model that will be used in the upcoming 2020/2021 polls and the completion of the outstanding issues in the Dusamareb 3 Conference that was held mid last month.

The meeting will be chaired by President Farmajo and will be attended by Puntland regional state president, Said Abdullahi Deni, Jubbaland president Ahmed Mohamed Islam aka Ahmed Madobe, Galmudug president Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor Qoor, South West state president Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed aka Lafta-Gareen, Hirshabelle president Mohamed Abdi Waare and Governor of Banadir region, Omar Mohamud Mohamed aka Omar Filish.

The leaders of South West, Galmudug and Hirshabelle states arrived in Mogadishu on Wednesday ahead of the meeting after they held separate talks in Baidoa where they renewed their commitment to the outcome of Dusamareb 3 Conference.
